What Is PCOS?
PCOS ( Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is an imbalance occurring in a woman’s hormones that leads to a growth of many cysts in the ovaries.
This results in problems like irregular periods, fertility, weight gain, excessive hair growth, and acne.
PCOS is a common health problem affecting 1 out of 10 women in India. However, there is an increasing trend predominantly seen in the women of childbearing age group of 15 to 30 years.
Symptoms Of PCOS
The symptoms of PCOS begins soon after a woman starts getting her periods.
The symptoms include sleep apnea, irregular periods, mood swings, anxiety or depression, pelvic pain, abnormalities of hair or skin. It also leads to substantial weight gain.
